Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia also known as CBT-I is a short-term evidenced based therapy model to treat individuals dealing with chronic insomnia. CBT-I is the first line of treatment for insomnia sufferers. In therapy we focus on cognitive restructuring, sleep hygiene, mindfulness techniques and sleep restriction to help patients increase their sleep efficiency and overcome the underlying causes of sleep disturbances.
Psychotherapy for vestibular disorders
Another specialty of mine is working with patients who suffer from vestibular disorders, specifically vestibular migraines and Persistent Perceptual Postural Dizziness (PPPD). It is very common to experience emotional and physical distress as a result of these disorders. I myself, was diagnosed with PPPD in 2019 and thought that I would never get better. However, after being treated with vestibular rehabilitation at the Dizziness and Vertigo Institute, psychotherapy and medication management, I was able to recover successfully.
Through a three-pronged psychotherapy approach—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and AF-EMDR, I help my patients learn techniques to cope with their triggers and process associated anxiety, depression and trauma. I work closely with the patient’s vestibular rehab team in order to achieve the best outcome.
